Oxford, CT - SEPTEMBER 1, 2011 — Congressman Jim Himes, who represents Connecticut's 4th District in the United States House of Representatives, visited Macton on Thursday, September 1, 2011. His goal was to understand the needs of local manufacturers and determine ways to better help the economic stance of USA-made products. Congressman Himes was accompanied by Bonnie Del Conte and Michael Perrelli from CONNSTEP - the non-profit entity responsible for helping Macton begin the process of LEAN manufacturing.

After a brief meeting with the senior staff of Macton, the Congressman was treated to a tour of the shop to view current projects underway. He was able to stand atop a large military-designated turntable while it rotated and view several rail projects as well.

The afternoon concluded with a short town hall style meeting where Macton employees were able to ask questions ranging from local manufacturing issues to import/export issues with foreign countries.
