Aloha from the Honolulu Rail Transit Project!

HART's Photo of the Week!

Situated between Waipahu High School and the University of Hawaii's Leeward Community College is the Rail Operations Center (ROC) for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project.  It's the maintenance and storage hub for the Project and will eventually house a 20 train fleet.

Each train is nearly 260 feet long and weighs 144 tons!  Dealing with such heavy equipment is no easy task but the ROC is more than up to the challenge.

Built on tracks high above the ROC's main service facility is a pair of 15-ton lifts manufactured by Konecranes, one of the world's leading industrial crane builders.  Each crane is capable of maneuvering the length of the facility, allowing technicians to safely lift and move train parts and equipment.  Aside from the lifts above, the floor of the facility also features MACTON hoists capable of lifting an entire 288,000 pound train.
