Aloha from the Honolulu Rail Transit Project!

Aloha from the Honolulu Rail Transit Project!

HART's Photo of the Week!

Situated between Waipahu High School and the University of Hawaii's Leeward Community College is the Rail Operations Center (ROC) for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project.  It's the maintenance and storage hub for the Project and will eventually house a 20 train fleet.

Each train is nearly 260 feet long and weighs 144 tons!  Dealing with such heavy equipment is no easy task but the ROC is more than up to the challenge.

Built on tracks high above the ROC's main service facility is a pair of 15-ton lifts manufactured by Konecranes, one of the world's leading industrial crane builders.  Each crane is capable of maneuvering the length of the facility, allowing technicians to safely lift and move train parts and equipment.  Aside from the lifts above, the floor of the facility also features MACTON hoists capable of lifting an entire 288,000 pound train.

10 Ton Portable Jacks headed to Oklahoma City!

10 Ton Portable Jacks headed to Oklahoma City!

Last week a shipment of eight of our 10T portable jacks headed to a customer in Oklahoma City. These jacks have a lift height of 76 inches, a lift speed of 9 inches per minute, and lift a combined total of 160,000lbs! These jacks carry our standard acme thread (on each lifting screw), which are designed to provide sufficient friction between the screw and bronze load bearing nut which allow it to be non-reversible and self-locking. These self-locking nuts along with our emergency stop buttons on every set of portable jacks gives us two forms of safety for the operators. The lifting screw is housed within the column structure so that the screw is protected from damage in the shop environment. Lastly, all of our welding is in accordance with American Welding Society D1.1 structural welding code and is inspected in house by one of our Certified Welding Inspectors. Everything is made here in CT, USA.
