Macton successfully achieved ISO 9001 certification in July 2008. Macton sought ISO certification as part of its ongoing efforts at continuous improvement in its product quality and ongoing operations. “We saw this as an important tool in our continuing efforts towards improving our product quality and becoming more responsive to our customers’ needs”, said Peter McGonagle, President of Macton. “Macton always put a strong emphasis on the quality of its products, but this helps us move even further in strengthening that product quality”, said McGonagle.

The internationally-recognized ISO 9001:2008 standard was created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), based in Geneva, Switzerland. It establishes international standards for quality management and continuous improvement, and ISO 9001:2008 provides a comprehensive and rigorous framework for assessing the consistency of an organization’s processes and its ability to meet customer expectations.

In obtaining its ISO certification, Macton was assisted by the quality consultants at CONNSTEP (which operates as Connecticut’s Manufacturing Extension Center under the Federal Manufacturing Extension Partnership Program). The ISO registration audits are conducted by QMI-SAI Global, an independent quality management registrar.
